International Compost Awareness Week

International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW) 2024 is next week!!! From May 5th to 11th, 2024, join us and the Oklahoma Compost and Sustainability Association (OCASA) in celebrating the largest and most extensive education initiative of the compost industry.

ICAW is a global event celebrated annually during the first full week of May, aimed at raising public awareness about the importance of composting organics and utilizing compost to nurture healthier soil. It is a week of engaging events held worldwide.

In Oklahoma, we got Proclamations from the State of Oklahoma, the City of Norman, the City of Tulsa, and the City of Oklahoma City acknowledging International Compost Awareness Week!!! Here's what you can expect:

• Monday, 5/6/24: Join us for the OKRA Lunch and Learn Virtual Tour of Norman's Compost Facility, featuring a Q&A session from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, both in Room B at Norman's Development Center (225 N Webster Ave - old central library) and via Zoom.

• Tuesday, 5/7/24: Experience compost education sessions at The Well Norman at 12 pm and 5:30 pm.

• Wednesday, 5/8/24: Attend a vermi-composting class and screening of Kiss the Ground at the Metropolitan Downtown Library from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm.

• Thursday, 5/9/24: Join us for a screening of Common Ground at Rodeo Cinema stockyard from 6:30 pm to 9 pm.

• Friday, 5/10/24: Enjoy a Social Hour at Sailor & The Dock in West Village OKC from 5 pm to 6:30 pm.

• Saturday, 5/11/24: Don't miss the highlight of the week, the Compost Festival Scissortail Park from 9 am to 1 pm.
